A man threatened to blow up a church in Italy

At the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Piazza Pilozzi in Valmontone, a man entered with a gas cylinder and a lighter, threatening to blow up the church.

It was the soldiers of the local station and the Colleferro company who arrested a 35-year-old Romanian man, already known to the police, seriously suspected of the crime of attempted extortion and resisting a public official.

The man, in an evident state of psychophysical alteration, during a religious function, in the presence of numerous faithful, entered the collegiate church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Piazza Pilozzi, with a gas cylinder and a lighter with the flame lit and threatened those present to explode the cylinder. He then insulted and threatened the parish priest who was responsible, according to him, for not wanting to give him money.

Police intervention prevented the 35-year-old man who, at the sight of the soldiers, resisted arrest from causing further problems. Once the lighter and the cylinder were recovered and seized, the man was taken to prison in Velletri and made available to the judiciary.
