Catholics were attacked by far-left groups inciting violence

On the morning of October 3, a group of masked individuals used climbing gear to scale the balustrade of St. Charles Church in Vienna and remove a banner that was promoting the upcoming March for Life.
Left-wing extremist groups are believed to have repeatedly vandalized the Karlskirche over an extended period, as well as verbally harassed and threatened the elderly priest.
The banner, which read “#UnbornLivesMatter,” advertised the March for Life, which was scheduled to take place on October 5 in front of the Karlskirche.
This incident followed social media posts inciting violence against the Austrian pro-life march. One such post featured an image of a man dressed in black, holding a Christian, identifiable by a cross, by the collar using a pointed hook.
“Anti-Christian incidents are increasing across Austria, and many go completely unnoticed by the public, such as those occurring in schools,” said Jan Ledóchowski, chairman of the newly founded online platform christenschutz.at, which tracks anti-Christian incidents in the country.
