An Italian parish was set on fire
On the 14th of September, a fire broke out at the oratory of the Migliarina church in Viareggio. Authorities believe the blaze may have been the result of arson. The fire caused extensive damage, completely destroying the interior of the building.
According to the parish priest, Father Daniele Ricci, several young boys were inside the oratory at the time and had to be rescued by firefighters. Fortunately, no one was harmed.
“Thank God it was only material damage, but we are deeply saddened by what happened,” Father Ricci said. Repairs are expected to cost the parish several thousand euros.
Every summer, Father Ricci, well-regarded in the community for his dedication to social work and youth programs, hosts the “Sagra sul Sagrato,” a popular traditional event organised by the Migliarina parish in the oratory.
