Terrorists killed and abducted several Christians during church attacks
Several armed terrorists carried out attacks against two churches at the same time in Nigeria. The terrorists killed three Christians and abducted 30 more, including the pastor of one of the churches.
Members of a terrorist group carried out attacks against two churches in Bakinpah-Maro community, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Nigeria. The coordinated attacks took place on September 15, Sunday, as believers gathered in the churches around 10 a.m. A person who witnessed the attacks described it as follows:.
“When the bandits arrived in large numbers, many worshippers fled the church. It was a horrendous sight. We were helpless as we watched the bandits wreak havoc.”
The armed gunmen killed three people on site and took 30 Christians with themselves. Among the abducted is the pastor of one of the churches. The local Christian community is still in shock after the attack. The former chairman of the local government called for the immediate rescue of the abducted and pleaded with the authorities for help.
The Maro community recently experienced attacks that kept the farmers away from their fields. The community raised money for an outpost to the law enforcement agencies, hoping that would help with the constant attacks. In Nigeria, the civil society suffers from continuous attacks, committed by Islamist terrorist organizations or religious fanatics. In many cases, the attacks target Christian farmers and are carried by Fulani herdsmen who want to take over their fields. The kindapping of civilians and members of the clergy is not a rare sight either. There are examples of mass abduction of children and students as well.
