A statue of Mary was smashed by vandals in a British church
A statue of Mary outside St. Joseph Church in Wembley, which forms part of the Diocese of Westminster, was destroyed during the night of August 7, leaving only the empty plinth behind. The incident has left the parishioners deeply shocked. In response, police have decided to increase their presence around the church.
A police team was dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation. The Goan community, to which the church belongs, expressed its dismay. Ravi Vaz, president of G.O.A. UK, said, “I will escalate this issue to higher authorities and involve the G.O.A if necessary. The UK is ready to support the Goan community in Wembley.”
An office staff member told the Catholic Herald, “The entire parish community is saddened by this senseless act. However, we will use this moment to strengthen our faith.”
It remains uncertain whether the attack is linked to the ongoing unrest in the UK, as the church office was unable to confirm any disturbances in the area on the night of the incident.
