According to reports from June 26, the 100-year-old Rossington Methodist Church in Doncaster was destroyed in a fire, suspected to be an act of arson.
A spokesman for the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service wrote the following in an official statement: “Fire crews from Rossington, Doncaster, Edlington, and Parkway stations responded to a fire at a derelict church on Nelson Road, New Rossington, Doncaster, at 2:10am. The church was engulfed in flames, and nearby premises were evacuated as a precaution. No casualties were reported. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. Crews departed the scene at 6:50am.”
The church, which was closed for worship since 2019 and added to the Local Heritage List last year, caught fire in the early hours.
