A church has been vandalised and desecrated in Austria
On the 1st of March, unknown perpetrators broke into the Villach parish church and tore off the metal decoration of a picture of the Virgin Mary while also stealing five gold plated candlesticks worth several hundred euros.
Christian Struger, OVP-Club chairman, ridiculed the act: “Religious goods are protected by society. And that applies to all religions that enjoy religious freedom on the basis of our Basic Law. Every criminal action in this prominent environment unsettles people, destroys their personal sense of security and puts a strain on living together.”
The police investigation concluded that the act was of criminal nature.
