A man threatened a woman with a knife inside a French church
On September 6, police arrested a man for vandalizing the Sacré-Cœur church in Nice. The man destroyed several statues and hurled a knife at a woman.
Security footage showed the assailant entering the church at 2:40 p.m. Witnesses reported that he became aggressive almost immediately. “A strong man entered in a fit of rage. He threw a knife at a woman, but she managed to dodge it. Then he began smashing statues and proceeded to the crypt, where people were praying,” recounted Father Jean-Baptiste.
Police responded within minutes, apprehending the suspect at the scene.
The incident left both worshippers and bystanders deeply alarmed. While the man’s identity remains unconfirmed, he is also suspected of attempting to target a second church by throwing stones.
