Kamala Harris is the first US vice president to attend an LGBT parade

“LGBTQ Americans, I want you to know: We see you, we hear you." This statement was tweeted by Kamala Harris, who was the first US vice president to join the LGBT march on the streets of Washington.

Kamala Harris shared a photo on Twitter showing her and her husband parading on Saturday’s LGBT Duma march in the US capital. Joe Biden’s deputy thus became the first vice president in office to take part in this type of demonstration.

“We celebrate all the achievements, but we have to pass the Equality Act. We need to make sure that our transgender community and our youth are protected. We still need protection around employment and housing. There is much more work to be done and I know we are committed,” Harris said during her speech at the Washington DC march.

In addition, Harris posted a post on Twitter in which the vice president wrote: “LGBTQ Americans, I want you to know—:We see you, we hear you. President Joe Biden and I will not rest until we all have equal protection of the law. Happy Pride !”
