EuroNews reports the main pro-life march took place in Buenos Aires under the banner “In Defense of the Two Lives.” Photos and videos show the massive crowd flooding the streets downtown in a sea of blue. Many carried signs and balloons. One group carried a large, paper mache model of a baby in the womb.

An estimated 300,000 people marched in the capital, wearing light blue scarves and singing joyfully about the value of every human life. Catholic, evangelical Protestant, Jewish and Islamic leaders all participated in the non-sectarian march, according to Crux.

Pro-lifers gathered for rallies in more than 200 locations across the country Saturday, the report states.

There was a “palpable spirit of celebration, of joy, with families rallying together, as well as an overwhelming presence of young people,” Carolina Brown, one of the march organizers, told Crux. “Seeing that young people are the ones who will have to continue fighting, seeing them come out in numbers, joining friends, is a reason for hope.”

Abortion has been illegal for decades in Argentina. Last year, its congress debated a bill to legalize abortion up to 14 weeks, but the Senate narrowly defeated the measure.

Pro-life leaders said the bill probably is the reason why the march was so big this year.

The March for Life in Argentina has been taking place for the past 20 years.
