Two people died during the Feast of Christ the King procession
During the annual Feast of Christ the King procession a stampede occurred. It is not known for certain what caused the chaos in the crowd but as the result of the stampede two elderly women died.
Christ the King Catholic Church in Aba State, Nigeria, held its annual feast of Christ the King procession on November 25. A large crowd of believers gathered in the diocese for the event from all over Nigeria. During the procession, a stampede occurred. Amid the chaos, many people fell to the ground and got injured in the panicking mass of people. Several believers got injured, and two elderly women lost their lives in the stampede.
It is not known for certain what caused the panic. Eyewitnesses say that security forces blocked the entrance of the church, causing the stampede. The investigation into this shocking event has already begun.
