Nigerian pastor and his daughter kidnapped
The pastor and his daughter were kidnapped and are currently being held hostage for more than a month. Relatives managed to pay the ransom initially demanded by their captors, but despite receiving the huge sum of money, the kidnappers did not release their hostages. Now they are demanding even more and threatening to kill the pastor and his daughter as well.
Isa Andrew, chaplain with All Saints Protestant Church of the Zamfara State Police Command, and his 13-year-old daughter, Grace Isa Andrew, were kidnapped by armed men from their home in Gusau on July 14. Their kidnappers initially asked for six million naira (3,770 USD) in exchange for their release. Their family managed to get the enormous amount of money by selling their properties, taking out loans, and obtaining help from the community.
After receiving the ransom, their captors decided not to set them free but to ask for more money and threatened that if they do not receive the other sum of money, they are going to kill Pastor Andrew and forcibly marry off his daughter. The captors released a video with Pastor Andrew and Grace, where the pastor stands blindfolded, tells the demands of the kidnappers, and begs for help while his daughter stands beside him with an AK-47 on her shoulder as a sign that their captors intend to force her into marriage and joining their ranks.
“Please come to our aid, assist us. We have been given from now up to next week Thursday, 15 August, 2024, otherwise I will be executed, and my daughter will be forcefully married out. She’s just 13 years of age. Please help us. I need your help. The Lord bless you.”
Said Pastor Andrew in the video. The new demands of the bandits are another six million naira and three motorcycles. Amid the kidnapping, a significant police force was deployed to find and free the captives, and the police are still working on the case. Not only the police but many Gusau residents are helping and raising their voices for the release of the widely loved pastor, so he and his daughter can return safely to their family.
