A Christian convert and father of three has been slain by Muslim extremists in Uganda. The man and his wife converted to Christianity from Islam almost three years ago. Since then they received death threats from their Muslim family members. They escaped from their hometown and fled to another district of Uganda for safety.

This year in October, the family returned to their home district in Bulangira town and rented a house there. His relatives found out about their return, and the threats started to come again.

“You left here and disappeared from us for three years thinking that Allah was in a sleep. Has Allah not brought back you for back justice? Soon we are going to behead you and get a big reward from Allah, and this time you’re not going to escape from us,”

reads a text they received from a Muslim extremist. On the evening of December 16, the Christian man left his home to meet with another evangelist. His wife says that she received a call from her husband saying that a group of people were following him, and after that, no sign came from him. The next day in the morning, however, she received a call from her husband’s phone number, but another person spoke through the phone saying that her husband has been killed and his body was in the swamp in Kakutu.

She was escorted to the scene by one of her neighbors, and indeed they found her husband’s body in the swamp. By that time a group of people had already gathered at the scene. One of the residents in the area told Morning Star News that he witnessed the incident on his way back home. He heard people shouting in Arabic and another man crying and calling out to Jesus for help. When he got closer, he also managed to identify some of the attackers.

The wife of the massacred Christian immediately filed a report with the police, and the investigation is currently ongoing. The Christian man leaves behind three children aged 2, 4, and 7.
