Satanic slogans smeared on a church in Poland
On the night of October 22-23, the phrase "Ave Satan" was spray-painted on the historic wall of Holy Trinity Church in Kwidzyn. A 44-year-old man, known to local police for previous offenses, was taken into custody, though he denied responsibility.
Local media report a growing wave of vandalism and similar graffiti in the city, with this incident standing out as a deliberate affront to religious beliefs rather than random defacement.
“The persecution of Christians isn’t just a topic from history books, but a reality unfolding before us,” the Franciscan friars, who lead the parish, stated in response.
This is not the first recent act of vandalism targeting Christian symbols in Kwidzyn. In 2019, the cross at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist was desecrated: alcohol was added to the holy water, and the crucifix was removed, broken, and trampled.
