Court of appeal to hear case of Christian teacher fired over Facebook posts

A Christian former school assistant, dismissed for sharing her beliefs on Facebook, will have her case reviewed by the Court of Appeal on Wednesday.
Kristie Higgs, 47, from Gloucestershire, was fired from Farmor’s School in 2019 for “gross misconduct” after posting her views on LGBT+ relationship education in Church of England primary schools.
Higgs posted two messages on Facebook in October 2018, criticizing the “No Outsiders In Our School” program at her son’s school, calling it “brainwashing” and opposing the teaching of gender identity and same-sex relationships as equal to traditional marriage.
Her posts, shared with around 100 friends under her maiden name, sparked an anonymous complaint to the school, which led to her suspension and eventual dismissal.
