Nigerian priest kidnapped
Father Gbuzuo was kidnapped on the 15th of May. His kidnappers did not make any contact with the authorities, and his whereabouts and conditions remain unknown.
There is a long list of kidnappings of religious men and women in Nigeria. The latest kidnapping happened on the 15th of May. A priest, Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzuo, was kidnapped from Anambra State, Onishta diocese. The diocese released a statement about the incident on the 16th of May.
“The sad incident occurred on Wednesday, 15th of May, along Eke Nkpor-Obosi bypass, about 8am. Father Gbuzuo is a resident priest at Holy Trinity Parish, Ogidi. Until now, the abductors have not established any contact with anyone”
Father Gbuzuo’s whereabouts and conditions are unknown. The police have already started the search for the priest and his kidnappers. All the faithful Christians were invited to pray for the safe return of Father Gbuzuo by Archbishop Valerian Okeke, Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha. Furthermore, the Archdiocese also pledged its full support to ensure that he is found safe and sound.
