Russell Brand baptized in the River Thames
Comedian and actor Russell Brand revealed that he underwent baptism on Sunday, following his prior expression of curiosity about Christianity.
In a video shared on Monday, Brand described the experience as profound and intimate, expressing how it surpassed his previous pursuits for tranquillity and peace, which had often left him disappointed. He emphasized the overwhelming and transformative nature of the baptismal process.
In the past few months, Brand has been dropping hints about his curiosity regarding Christianity. Since last December, he delved into several Christian texts, such as C.S. Lewis’ “The Problem of Pain” and Rick Warren’s “The Purpose-Driven Life.” According to him, these readings played a significant role in reshaping his perspective and prioritizing his connection with God.
He explained, “The reason I wear a cross is because Christianity, especially the figure of Christ, is becoming increasingly significant to me as I explore themes of suffering, purpose, self, and identity.”
