Attacks against Catholic churches on the increase in the USA
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) registered all acts of vandalism and arson attacks on Catholic churches in the USA. Up until now, fifty-one churches have been vandalised this year alone.
Since May of 2020, 104 incidents have been registered in nearly thirty states across the US. Incidents include arson, statues that were beheaded, had their limbs broken, smashed or painted. Gravestones have been defaced with swastikas and anti-Catholic slogans. In addition, American flags have been set on fire next to the tombstones. Other acts of destruction and vandalism have also been recorded.
Since January of 2021, up until this October, fifty-one churches have been vandalised. The latest acts of vandalism occurred on the 10th and the 11th of October, when the exterior of churches in Los Angeles, Seattle and Denver were defaced with graffiti.
