Seventy people killed in one week in DRC

The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a foreign terrorist organisation and affiliate of ISIS, is suspected to be behind the massacre of seventy civilians in eastern DRC this week.

According to Channels Television, at least eleven people were killed Wednesday, June 2nd, by suspected ADF fighters in the northeastern province of Ituri.

“Eighty-four shacks in the camp were torched, as were eight stores in nearby Boga,” said an AFP correspondent cited by Channels Television. “A number of villagers, including at least four women, were kidnapped.”

While a large majority (85-90%) of DRC’s population is Christian, violence rooted in Islamic extremism continues to worsen, putting the country at the fortieth on the 2021 Open Doors World Watch List for Christian persecution.

“These predominantly Christian communities are attacked by an Islamic extremist group with a clear Islamic expansionist agenda,” Open Doors spokesperson Illia Djadi stated about the ADF rebel group.
