Masses without the faithful until the 17th of January in Austria

Due to the latest stage of the lockdown in Austria, all services in the churches of this country will be held without the participation of the faithful from the 28th of December until the 17th of January.

On public and weekdays, it will be possible to celebrate the liturgy with a small group of people during this time, under certain conditions. Similar regulations were in force during the second lockdown, from the 17th of November to the 6th of December.

A maximum of ten people can participate in the liturgy at any time, including the celebrant. Participants’ names must be notified in advance.

There must be no other people during the service. There will be general rules for those present, such as hand disinfection before entering, face masks and a distance of at least 1.5 metres
