A cemetery was vandalised in southern France
Acts of degrading anti-social behaviour have continued in the Ossau Valley (southern France) since the end of lockdown where the village of Bescat was targeted by vandalism last weekend.
The acts of vandalism happened at a place called “Le Pouey”, a magnificent viewing point over the valley of the Pic du Midi. The attacks damaged public amenities and local fixtures that were destroyed and burned.
Even more serious was the desecration of a sacred place, devoted to peace and meditation. The cemetery was defaced with obscene and degrading graffiti.
Mayor Jean-Louis Barban, “exhausted and disgusted by such acts”, announced that the municipality immediately had filed a complaint with the local police and will quickly take measures to prevent similar acts in the future.
