Vandals destroyed the altar of a church in Germany
On September 9, vandals overturned and destroyed the altar dedicated to St. Mary in the Catholic parish of St. Peter and Paul in Grevenbroich, Germany.
Due to the extensive damage, the front section of the church remains closed.
The altar, located in a chapel to the left of the main entrance, featured a wood carving of the Virgin Mary dating back to 1890. Weighing over 50 kilos, several parts of the sculpture were shattered.
The vandals also attempted to force open the chapel’s collection boxes.
