Twelve Christians killed, one kidnapped in Benue State, Nigeria
Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed twelve Christians and kidnapped another in attacks in Benue state earlier this month, Morning Star News, a persecution monitoring group reported.
Muslim Fulani herdsmen have attacked more villages in Benue State, southeast Nigeria. The raids occurred within days of each other and all in the first half of May. Curiously, nothing has yet been found that would link the attacks to each other.
According to some area residents and Morning Star News, four Christians were killed in Tse-Haaga village on the 12th of May. “The herdsmen invaded our village driving four motorbikes around 5 p.m. on Tuesday (the 12th of May). They attacked us and killed four members of our village while injuring three others,” a local told MSN.
Two Christians were killed in Agasha village; another two in Yelewata village were also killed and five people were injured.
In Tarkende, Saghev and Ukusu villages a further two Christians were killed, while from the village of Agila, another Christian was kidnapped. Two farmers were also killed in the attacks.
Nigeria ranks 12th on Open Doors’ 2020 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution. The country, however, comes second in the number of Christians killed for their faith, behind Pakistan, Morning Star News noted.
