Dominican actress clashes with security guard over ‘Jesus dress’

The 77th Cannes Film Festival showcased controversial moments, including the clash between Christian Dominican actress Massiel Taveras and a female security guard, when the actress fought to show the train of her dress portraying Jesus Christ.

The incident was recorded and is available to view online. Taveras was really upset and pushed the marshals away when they tried to make physical contact. The actress wanted to exhibit her black gown with a white cape and a long train featuring a hand-painted image of Jesus Christ with the crown of thorns. The dress was designed by Giannina Azar and featured an image painted by Yan Páez.

Miss B Converted –  a former sex worker who quit her sinful ways and converted to the Catholic faith, describes herself as a ‘Repentant sinner, converted to Christ’ – took to social media to criticize the festival: “The Cannes Film Festival tried its hardest to make sure Giannina Azar couldn’t display Jesus on the red carpet. Pardon my bluntness, but Hollywood is saturated with Satanists, paedophiles & the worst people on the planet. It’s no surprise the image of Christ is repulsive to them.”

Another controversial episode at this year’s Cannes Festival was when Karla Sofia Gascon, a 46-year-old Spanish, trans-identified male actor, jointly won the Best Actress award for the roles in Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Perez”.
