Time frame of prisoners on furlough extended in Iran

Iranian President Rouhani announced on Sunday that the temporary release of prisoners would extend until 20th of May to combat COVID.
Although he deferred to the Judiciary as the central authority on the matter, Iranian President Rouhani announced on Sunday that the time frame of prisoners on furlough to combat COVID would extend until 20th of May, International Christian Concern reported.
Three Christians have had their sentences cancelled while on furlough. Some Christians remain on leave, and it is not clear how the situation will impact their cases. However, most Christians were not eligible for furlough under COVID, ICC noted.
According to ICC, in spite of the restrictions on religious freedom, the church in Iran has grown at a rapid pace, and is believed to be the largest church in the Middle East stemming from a Muslim background
