Belgium: a church vandalised in Piétrebais
In the Belgian village of Piétrebais, a group of unidentified people threw rocks at the church and broke several windows.
“At each school break, at periods that are difficult to assess, we end up with broken windows. Last Tuesday, it happened again,” explains Pierre Gillain, treasurer of the church. “We are going through a period of forced leave and some people are bored, they do not know what to do, so they throw stones at the windows of the church before fleeing. It’s terrible cowardice,” he added.
The local faithful hope that the perpetrators of these acts will be found. However, it is not going to be easy as the location is very isolated.
For the past four years, the amount of invoices has exceeded € 16,000.
