Switzerland: a group of people tries to burn down a church
On Tueasday, March 3, 2020 a group of unidentified people tried to burn down the organ gallery of a Catholic church in Granges (western Switzerland).
The perpetrators set a newspaper on fire which they placed on the organ gallery. The flames considerably damaged the furniture.
The smoke quickly spread throughout the church. The firefighters had to ventilate the place of worship. Police have called for witnesses.
In January 2011, an man had set fire to the altar of St-Ours Cathedral in Solothurn. He was sentenced to fourteen months to prison.
