This deceased priest was definitely tortured before being killed. According to our statistics, he is the seventh Mexican priest to be killed this year thus confirming our view that Mexico is the most dangerous country in the world for priests.

The body of Fr. Ícmar Arturo Orta was found on the 13th of October at  St Mary’s Street in the district of Tijuana, some days after his disappearance.

Fr. Francisco Moreno Barron, the archbishop of Tijuana issued the following statement: “It is with great sorrow that I must inform the priests and the faithful of our Diocese of the death of Fr. Ícmar Arturo Orta. We will pray together for the salvation of his soul. The police are still conducting their investigations,  trying to find the assassin of our brother in God and the cause of his death. I will relay any further information that we receive about the incident to you, along with the funeral arrangements.”

According to some information on social networks, Ícmar Arturo Orta disappeared on the 11th of October after celebrating a Mass in the district of Colonia Obrera.  Fides News Agency reported that the legs and the arms of the body were tied and there were visible signs of violence to his body.
