Priest found dead with signs of torture in Ecuador

Father Fabián Enrique Arcos Sevilla, a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Ambato, was found dead on November 3 in the province of Cotopaxi, Ecuador. Father Fabián Arcos was ordained in 1998 and served in multiple parishes and communities in the Diocese of Ambato.

His disappearance was reported on October 30, and three days later, his body was found near a landfill. The examination found signs of torture on his body. The investigation is still ongoing in the case. According to the police, Father Fabián Arcos knew his killers, and the motive for the murder was robbery. No further details of the case are known so far. The priest’s funeral was held on November 6.
