He praised French President Emmanuel Macron for overseeing the restoration, saying, “President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so. It will be a very special day for all!”

The cathedral, a symbol of French history and architecture, was engulfed in flames on April 15, 2019. The fire severely damaged the 860-year-old structure, including its vaulted ceiling and 19th-century spire.

While some speculated that the fire was an act of arson amid a wave of church attacks in France, investigators concluded in 2020 that it was likely caused by either a cigarette or an electrical short circuit.
