Christian charity brings hope to displaced Muslims in Lebanon

Since the conflict escalated in the Middle East, the Christian charity Youth for Christ Lebanon has provided vital support to Muslim communities.
Constant airstrikes have raised terror among Lebanese civilians. Over a million people have been displaced, and imperative infrastructure – such as roads, hospitals and schools – have been destroyed. As a result, war victims are forced to take refuge in areas with not enough medicine, food and basic resources.
National Director of Youth for Christ, Maher El Hajj stated: “People are terrified. They are not able to sleep at night and have high anxiety and depression. The bombing is not ceasing; when will this end?”
The charity provides practical support to unprivileged people, showing them the love of Jesus Christ. According to El Hajj, “We want to show the love of Christ in a very practical way to the Muslim community so they can experience the unconditional love of Jesus. They need all the help they can get, from trauma intervention to basic necessities like food, water, and medicine. We pray people will see Christ through us and be open to the Gospel message.”
The charity launched Axis Youth Centre in 2021 in Zahle. This offers a sanctuary and spiritual engagement for 12-18-year-old teenagers. They run open forums on challenging topics such as ‘Dare2Ask’, art clubs and discipleship. They also offer support for mental health issues and invest in the education of young women through the Super Woman program. The centre provides meaningful connections, friendships, foundation and a relationship with God.
