The discrimination of Christians in France in 2024
2024 has seen an alarming rise in anti-Christian incidents in France. Church vandalism, desecration of religious symbols, and verbal harassment of Christians are becoming more frequent.
According to various watchdog groups and media reports, incidents of church burnings, the defacement of Christian monuments, and disruptions of religious services have surged over the past few years.
For example, in early 2024, the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Nîmes suffered significant vandalism, where altars were desecrated, and sacred objects destroyed. This was not an isolated event but part of a broader pattern.
Between 2019 and 2022, the French government recorded over 1,000 anti-Christian acts annually, with these figures continuing to rise. The growing prevalence of such attacks suggests that anti-Christian sentiment, while not as openly discussed as other forms of religious discrimination, is a serious issue.
