Islamic graffiti smeared inside a German chapel
On Sunday, April 21, Ursula Becker, a member of the parish council at St. Katharina in Aachen, made the troubling discovery at St. Mary’s Chapel that garbage and graffiti, including the phrase "Allahu Akbar," defaced its walls and doors.
Despite suggestions to close the parish, Matthias Goldammer, the parish priest, dismissed the idea. He expressed sorrow over the inability to fully open the church without supervision but emphasized the importance of preserving St. Mary’s Chapel as a sanctuary for prayer and moments of peace for all.
The incident occurred between 12 and 4 p.m.
