Actor Mark Wahlberg encourages people to pray this Lent

Committed Christian actor & producer Mark Wahlberg collaborated with actor Jonathan Roumie - playing Jesus in the popular series "The Chosen" - to influence people to pray more in a Super Bowl commercial for the Catholic app Hallow.

The Hallow mobile app was launched in December 2018. Since then, it has been downloaded around ten million times. It stores over 10,000 sessions, including a “Daily Rosary,” “Daily Gospel,” “Daily Saint,” “Novenas,” “Examens,” “Father Mike Schmitz’s Bible in a Year,” “The Chosen’s Jonathan Roumie’s audio Bible” and “Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermons.” The app offers prayers on the go. Users can connect with friends and family and create family groups. In addition, it allows users to customize their prayer experiences with a tailored daily prayer routine.

Alex Jones, CEO and co-founder of Hallow, stated: “The goal at Hallow has always been to reach out to as many folks as possible, both those who take their faith seriously and especially those who might have fallen away and invite them deeper into a relationship with God. When we learned about the timing of the Big Game this year, we couldn’t have been more excited to work with Mark and Jonathan to use it as an opportunity to invite millions into prayer.”

Actor Mark Wahlberg has a successful career in Hollywood. One of his recent roles is as a Catholic priest alongside Mel Gibson in the faith-based movie Father Stu. As a committed Catholic, Wahlberg also supplied a series of lessons on the topic of fasting to the app. He has been spotted at the start of Lent with an ash cross on his forehead.

Wahlberg talked about the challenges he had to face as a Christian: “It’s not popular in my industry, but you know, I cannot deny my faith. It’s important for me to share that with people. I have always talked about my faith. It’s a balance. I don’t wanna jam it down anybody’s throat, but I do not deny my faith.”
