Eight people died in an attack against a church in the DRC

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, armed men carried out an attack on a Pentacostal church, killing eight people and taking thirty more hostages.

On January 30, several attacks were carried out in Beni, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The armed men, who are members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a rebel group affiliated with the Islamic State, attacked civilians with blades.

Nicolas Kikuku, the mayor of the Oicha commune in the affected area, said that eight civilians were killed, including, “five Branhmanist Christians killed during worship.”

The attackers executed the victims and took thirty more people as hostages. Many other people are missing as well.

In another attack on the 27th of January, 32 others were killed in a similar attack. Five of them were parishioners who were beheaded during the attack.

All these attacks are attributed to the ADF and the Islamic State.
