Claretian missionary kidnapped in Haiti released

Father Fausto Cruz Rosa, a Claretian missionary escaped from his captors on the 27th of February, ten days after he had been kidnapped. He is safe and sound, the Claretian Provincial Superior expressed his gratitude towards everyone who had prayed for his release.

“On February 17, after 10 days of kidnapping, he miraculously escaped from his captors”, reports to Fides Father Fausto Cruz Rosa cmf, Superior of the Claretian Missionaries of the Antilles, on the release of his confrere Father Antoine Macaire Christian Noah, kidnapped on February 7 on his way to his community in Kazal.

The criminal gang behind the kidnapping had demanded a large sum of money as ransom for the priest. “Father Antoine is well and we managed to transfer him to the Dominican Republic,” added the Claretian Provincial Superior. “We are grateful to all for joining us in prayer and for the solidarity you have shown us at this time of violence and uncertainty that the Haitian people are experiencing. For our part, we will continue our commitment to service,” concludes Father Fausto.
