Twenty-two civillians were killed in an attack in the DRC
Twenty-two civilians were killed in two separate attacks in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Sunday and Monday of this week
The perpetrators of the attacks, which occurred about twelve hours apart, are suspected to belong to a local rebel group called CODECO, which is one of the many militias operating in the east of the country.
Despite the DRC’s government declaring martial law in Ituri and the neighboring province of North Kivu in 2021 in an attempt to stop the violence, brutal attacks on civilians have persisted.
