500 graves looted of their metal objects in French cemetery

On the night of January 25 to 26, criminals stripped nearly 500 graves in the Houdain cemetery.

Plaques, lettering on the graves, crucifixes, statues among others, have been stolen. The aim of the robbers was probably to resell them to the cast iron, as is the case for other thefts of metals committed in the cemeteries of Greater Lille or the agglomeration of Thionville since last autumn.

A number of items considered to be of insufficient value were left at the entrance and in the aisles by the thieves, which no one saw or heard of.
