Bomb detonates in Greek church on New Year’s Eve
An explosion caused by unknown perpetrators occurred outside the Church of St. Paul in Athens at about 12:30 AM on New Year's, as reported by Protothema.gr.
The explosion was caused by ten gas canisters placed outside the church, which caused minor material damage, such as blackened spots on the church’s facade. A similar event took place in 2018, where two people were wounded.
It seems that the detonation intended to blow up the church and it was made by an improvised device that ignited 10 gas cylinders that were placed near the church (or according to other sources: 10 cans of gasoline).
