The door of the Polish Cathedral of Łódź vandalised with white graffiti

On the night of the 8th of July, an unidentified individual destroyed the door to the archcathedral basilica in Łódź (central Poland) - by smearing it with white paint.

The inscription on the door of the basilica is illegible. According to the spokesman of the Archdiocese of Łódź, Fr. Paweł Kłys, the event should be classified as an act of vandalism that led to the destruction of a valuable, historic door.

However, it is obviously related to the protest that took place in front of the cathedral. The hands reflected in red oil paint remain on the granite slabs in front of the church. Their removal will also not be easy – he added.

A group of social activists gathered in front of the Łódź cathedral with a banner “They were children”, who demanded from the Catholic Church an apology for what happened to the children of Canada’s indigenous people.
