Danish Left wants to spend millions for “helping Polish women” with abortion

The Social-Liberal Party and the Red-Greens Alliance proposed that Polish women could perform abortions in Denmark. They want to spend 20 million crowns for this purpose (about 3 million USD).
The proposal was supported by the liberal-conservative Venstre party, currently the largest in the opposition. The Danish media point out that “the idea behind this proposal is to ease the stringent Polish abortion legislation, which, after a series of exacerbations, allows abortion only when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, or when a woman’s life is at risk,” according to the Polish newspaper Wysokie Obcasy.
“We want to give Polish women the opportunity to have an abortion in Denmark. You have to react to the terrible things that are happening in Poland. I see it as an attack on women’s fundamental rights,” said Morten Helveg Petersen of the Social Liberal Party.
The plan is that the funds will go to the Sex & Society organisation, which, in cooperation with the international network Abortion Without Borders, will provide access to abortions to approximately 165 women a year.
