Prof. Richard Dawkins has been asked about his past statement on social media. When a woman confessed that she would face a real moral dilemma if she found out she was pregnant and the baby had Down syndrome, the researcher advised her not to give birth to a sick child. “Abort them and try again. It would be immoral to bring them into the world, if you have a choice ”- wrote prof. Dawkins.

The interviewer is raising a child with Down syndrome. So he asked the scientist what immoral is in giving birth to a child with trisomy 21, and also asked him to cite research which states that these children contribute to the increased suffering in the world.

Prof. Dawkins admitted that he has neither evidence nor knows anyone with trisomy 21. However, this does not prevent him from believing that the level of happiness in the world would probably increase if someone else had a second, healthy child in return.
