A church in Italy vandalised with obscene symbols

One of the five chapels of the Church of the Crosses in Foggia was smeared with blue paint. One pillar was defaced with a phallic symbol, now covered by a white cloth. The other pillars were sprayed with conspicuous and incomprehensible signs. Other writings were found on the ground of the chapel and the pavement.

The pillars were also spray painted with other glaring and incomprehensible signs. Other writings were found on the ground and on the pavement.

The Congregation of Monte Calvario became aware of the vandal raid a few days ago. It has not been possible to establish with certainty when the thugs acted, considering that the keepers reopen the church located in the ancient heart of the city only periodically. It has, in fact, been closed to the public for more than a year.

Five years ago, the portal of the monumental complex in Piazza Sant’Eligio was restored. Now the Congregation awaits the opinion of the police before prroceeding  with the removal of the writings.
