Attempted fire at the door of a Lutheran church in Latvia
Unknown persons tried to set a Lutheran church on fire in Latvia. The vandals may face punishment in prison.
On the 23rd of March, the Lutheran community of Riga announced that unknown vandals attempted to set ablaze the door of the Lutheran church of Tornjakalns.
Luckily, only the door’s paintwork was blackened by the fire, which was started by a stove set near the wooden door.
The church was built around 1880 in a Gothic Revival style. The parish filed a complaint and requested an enquiry into the wanton destruction of property by the fire. This kind of criminal activity can be punished with up to ten years of prison in Latvia.
