Two churches desecrated in Hungary within some days

On Monday, a Greek Catholic church was set on fire, and two days later, on Wednesday morning a Catholic church was found damaged.

On Monday, a Greek Catholic church in Gödöllő, near Budapest, was set on fire at around 8 PM. The perpetrators burned the benches of the church and sprinkled an icon with flammable material.

The sacristan told Vasarnap.hu that the vandals escaped but there were eyewitnesses. According to him, the perpetrators caused millions of forints in damage.

Two days later,  on Wednesday morning, the bells of a Catholic chapel were found damaged in the eighteenth arrondissement of Budapest.

During the night, unidentified persons climbed into the churchyard. They then climbed onto the belfry, filled the inside of both bells with foam, and then wrapped them in plastic wrap.

Many Hungarian politicians, celebrities and religious leaders have condemned these hate crimes on their social media platforms.
