Two churches tagged with swastikas in France
In January, two churches and a town hall were tagged with swastikas in the department of Seine-et-Marne, in France.
On the 4th of January, the town hall of Waulx-le-Penil was graffitied with swastikas. On the same day, the churches of Ecrennes and Echouboulains had the Nazi symbol scrawled on them. All three scribblings were signed with the name “Biobananas”.
At the end of December, sixty-seven tombs were debased by the same person in Fontainebleau’s cemetery.
Finally, on the 4th of January, the perpetrator was arrested when he left his home in Mée Sur Seine. He was equipped with airbrushes of the same colour as those used in the attacks.
The “graffiti artist” explained the police that he “wanted to become famous”. He chose the name Biobananas from a techno-group and used the swastika symbol to draw attention and to be arrested. In the end, he was not imprisoned, but he was hospitalised in a psychiatric unit.
