Catholic cemetery desecrated in Senegal

The Catholic cemetery in the town of Tivaouane was desecrated in October.

The damage was discovered by a group of volunteer Christians who were cleaning the cemetery before the holiday of all Saints.

A tomb had been desecrated and one section of the wall completely ransacked by a Chinese construction company that is building a modern IT civil registry centre at the location.

The faithful found the situation unacceptable and were preparing to enter into conflict with the company. The priest of Tivaouane, Mgr André Guèye, managed to calm their anger and according to information gathered, the Bishop of Thiès, Mgr André Guèye, has gone to the scene to inquire about the situation.
