Memorial commemorating Armenian genocide vandalised in France

Unknown perpetrators desecrated and destroyed the National Armenian Genocide Memorial in the French town of Décines-Charpieu on the outskirts of Lyon. Slogans offending Armenians appeared both on the monument and on the building next to it.
Some elements of the monument were destroyed. The initials of the Turkish President also appeared: R.T.E. (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) and a spray saying “grey wolves”.
The prosecutor’s office was notified of the shameful event in Décines. French Armenian lawyer Nairi Zandurian said that “the war in Nagorno-Karabakh went far beyond his territory, even reaching France.”
“We must do everything to stop this conflict as soon as possible, also here on French soil,” said the lawyer.
In a statement issued by the CDCA (Armenian Defense Committee), we learnt that what happened in a small French town “is part of a large-scale campaign to terrorise and intimidate the French of Armenian origin.”
