A statue of the Virgin Mary vandalised in Belgium
The faithful attending the sanctuary of Banneux told us of their anger and their dismay. They had learnt that at the beginning of the week, during the night, individuals attacked the statue of the Virgin located at the spring where pilgrims traditionally immerse their hands in the waters of the miraculous spring.
The statue has been replaced by another, identical one. The fact unfortunately seems to have escaped the mainstream media.
The motives of this act of profanation and vandalism remain unknown.
