Pastoral activity will resume in Fatima

On the 12th and 13th of October the shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fatima will be celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the end of the Marian apparitions - the rector of this Portuguese place of worship announced.

 

After the coronavirus pandemic, the sanctuary will resume normal pastoral activity and be ready to receive groups of pilgrims who will come to Cova da Iria this year to give thanks for their life in Christ – said shrine spokeswoman Carmo Rodeia.

She also announced that the international anniversary pilgrimage in October, which will be led by Archbishop of Panama José Domingo Ulloa. This event will bring to a close the cycle of pilgrimages commemorating the apparitions of 1917.

In the coming weeks Masses will be celebrated in the main square of the sanctuary or inside the basilica of the Holy Trinity. This building is the largest temple in Portugal.

At the same time, it was announced that wearing a mask would be obligatory. Access to the sanctuary will be possible after prior hand disinfection by the faithful.
